Forensic Analysis, Inspections & Engineering Reports

Professional | Code‑Driven | Expert Witness | Cal OES Certified

At Middleton Structural & Design, we provide comprehensive structural forensic engineering services designed to identify the root cause of building distress, evaluate structural performance, and deliver clear and accurate findings. Our team brings deep experience across residential, commercial, and industrial structures, with specialized expertise in code compliance, failure analysis, and post‑event assessments. We serve for both private/general and government emergency services in all licensed states.  For non-emergency services we travel to the entire continental USA as well as the Caribbean.

Structural Forensic Analysis

We conduct detailed forensic investigations to determine why a structural issue occurred and what must be done to correct it.
Our analyses may include but not limited to:

  • Foundation settlement and movement
  • Framing failures and overstress conditions
  • Water intrusion–related deterioration
  • Storm, wind, snow, and seismic damage
  • Construction defects and code noncompliance
  • Material degradation (wood rot, corrosion, concrete distress)
  • Load path and structural system failures

Our team applies industry‑standard methodologies, current building codes, and advanced diagnostic tools to deliver accurate, unbiased conclusions.

Structural Inspections

We perform on‑site and/or virtual structural inspections for property owners, developers, HOA's, real estate professionals, contractors, insurers, and attorneys.
Our inspections evaluate (may include but not limited to):

  • Structural integrity and safety
  • Visible damage and concealed risk indicators
  • Code compliance and construction quality
  • Foundation, framing, roof, and building envelope performance
  • Post‑event conditions (storm, fire, impact, settlement)

Every inspection is performed by a licensed structural engineer with the experience to identify both immediate hazards and long‑term concerns.

Engineering Reports

We provide clear, detailed, and defensible engineering reports suitable for:

  • Real estate transactions
  • Insurance claims and disputes
  • Contractor remediation plans
  • Legal and expert‑witness documentation
  • Municipal compliance and permitting

Each report may include but not limited to:

  • Professional engineering analysis
